Kerrigan Notches Third POW
Oskaloosa–Marcus Kerrigan (Jr., Cary, Ill., Sociology) was productive in last Saturday’s setback to St. Ambrose, and for his efforts he was named Midwest League Special Teams Player of the Week today.
Kerrigan’s award is his third of 2012 and ninth of his career. The junior helped in a variety of ways, most notably hitting a 29-yard field in the third quarter to give the Statesmen their final lead of the game. He added two extra points as well.
Kerrigan also punted once for 52 yards and kicked off four times for a 58.8 yard average. Following one of his kicks, he stepped up defensively by tackling returner Raimon Clay to save a touchdown in the first quarter.
For the year, Kerrigan is 31-of-37 in extra points and 11-of-13 in field goals. He is currently tied for the school single-season field goal mark and has already eclipsed the mark for field goals in a career (23). The junior has also punted 15 times for a 40.4 yard clip.
The award is William Penn’s eighth of 2012.
