8th Grade Girls Overtake Knoxville
Yesterday afternoon our 8th grade girls took on the team of Knoxville. For our first game our girls got off to a slow start and were hardly ahead at halftime. The first half displayed a lot of turnovers and mental errors that resulted in a stern talking from Coach Knoot and myself during the break. The second half was a different story with Aubree Blanco getting 16 of her 18 points in the paint and Addi Carter totaling nearly 10 steals for the game. It was good to see the girls turn things around in the second half with better decisions on the defensive side of the ball and the offensive side of the ball. The final score was 37-15. Our next game will be at home against Pella next Monday the 4th.
The second game resulted in a better start and even better finish. Our girls came out aggressive on defense resulting in many layups and easier shots offensively. The defensive brigade was led by Olivia Stoghill and Sage Adam. Many girls got in the scoring column for this game which help get the result of a 27-3 win. The second team continues to work hard on both ends of the floor and is showing great strides as a group. All these girls look forward to their rival of Pella next week. Go Indians!
