7th Grade OMS Boys Basketball Defeated By Pella

by Wade Schelker

The 7th grade boys basketball team took on the Little Dutch of Pella Thursday evening. The boys fought hard but fell to defeat in all 3 games. In the A game Tommy North and Tyler Edgar led Oskaloosa with 8 points apiece but only got 6 points from one other player as Cael Ashman scored as many in the losing effort. ” Pella jumped out early and was able to fight off every Oskaloosa rally and had 12 player s contribute to the scoring effort” When you have that many players scoring against you and you can’t put the ball in the basket you are in for a long night. The Indians just did not play defense consistently enough to overcome that. I was proud of the fact that our boys never gave up despite the lopsided score.

In the B game the Indians fell 40-5 with Brady Shinn and Kale Van Wyk scoring a bucket and Kaden Toubekis went 1 for 2 from the charity stripe to round out the scoring..
In the C game it was both a lack of scoring and a barrage by the Pella offense that sent the Indians reeling 53-8. Dawson Bortje and Draiden Stein scored 8 and 2 points respectively. The Indians will be in action on Tuesday and Thursday taking on Newton and Grinnell. Go Indians!!
