WPU Opens Second Campaign at Pointer Open

Stevens Point, Wis.–A handful of Statesmen women’s wrestlers hit the mat Saturday to begin the 2021-2022 season at the Wisconsin-Stevens Point Open.

Mami Selemani (So., Iowa City, Iowa, Business Management) guided the group by winning two matches, both by technical fall at 123 pounds. The sophomore was one victory shy of finishing in the top six.

Catherine Steinkamp (Fr., Quincy, Ill., Biology) also claimed a victory by fall at 116 pounds.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Fremont, Neb. next Wednesday to face Midland in dual-meet action at 5 p.m.
