Woofstock 2011 will be held Sunday, September 25th from Noon-4pm.
Oskaloosa, Iowa – There will also be several vendors and booths set up in the exhibit all, including a couple dog breed resuces, pet related businesses, and some local businesses in the area. Many of these vendors will be donating part of their profits from the event to the SMAS.
Mary LaHay of Iowa Voters for Companion Animals will be holding two presentations on the issue of Puppy Mills in Iowa. She is a VERY remarkable person and her and her group are responsible for bringing Puppy Mills into the public eye and educating the public on the issue. This should be a very interesting talk.
Admission and parking is free. When guests arrive they will be given a map of the fairgrounds and a schedule of events. Similar to a carnival, guests can buy tickets at the entrance to participate in activities.
Activities will “cost” anywhere from 1-3 tickets. Most of the activities will only cost 1 ticket. Tickets are $1 each. For the tractor pull and the long dog races, participants will need to sign up 30min prior to the beginning of the event. These are the only activities that require prior registration.
We will also have Woofstock 2011 T-Shirts available for purchase. Also, a new thing we are doing this year is handing out bandanas to anyone who brings their dog that they adopted from the SMAS or any other shelter or rescue.
The big raffle prizes this year are a G.A.S.S. Driving Experience in which the winner will have the opportunity to ride along with a professional race car driver at top speeds around the track. This prize also includes $100 in gas. A Nintendo Wii family racing package (Wii console, two controllers, two Wii Wheels for racing, and two racing games), and a 42″ Plasma screen T.V. There are also lots more prizes!
Tickets can be purchased anytime leading up to the event by stopping by the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter. They can also be purchased at the event. Prices are $2 per ticket, $10 for 6 tickets, and $20 for 13 tickets.
