William Penn Inks Ruano for First Illinois Signee

Oskaloosa–Head Women’s Wrestling Coach Tucker Black is excited to announce that Samantha Ruano has signed a Letter of Intent to compete for William Penn in its inaugural campaign next year.

Ruano, the daughter of Edgar and Abigail Ruano, is a native of Romeoville, Ill. and is currently a senior at Romeoville HS.

A state qualifier as a junior, she is currently ranked #1 this season. Ruano is also a successful powerlifter, having claimed the IHSPLA state championship in 2019.

“Samantha is a wonderful person and will be a cornerstone to our team for the years to come,” Black said. “She comes from a great wrestling family that fully supports her.”

“So far this has been a great journey, and I am very excited to be a part of something new, all while facing new challenges with strength, determination, and confidence,” Ruano said.
