William Penn Falls at Midland 33-9

Fremont, Neb.–The Statesmen women’s wrestling team began its weekend of grappling in the Cornhusker State on the losing end of a 33-9 non-conference dual meet with Midland Friday.

WPU (1-6) won just one of the six contested matches and also picked up free points in a forfeit.

Brittany Cotter (Fr., Katy, Texas, Nursing) claimed said forfeit at 116 pounds to even up the team score at 5-5.

123-pounder Mami Selemani (So., Iowa City, Iowa, Business Management) then put the navy and gold ahead 9-5 when she defeated Brianna Munoz by an 11-0 technical fall.

Unfortunately, the Warriors finished off the evening with victories at the final six weights for the team win.

Next Up: WPU remains in Fremont, Neb. Saturday to compete in the Midland Open at 9 a.m.
