William Penn Comes Up Short Against Clarke

Oskaloosa–The Statesmen women’s volleyball team hosted Clarke in Heart of America Athletic Conference play on Tuesday night.
William Penn (18-11, 5-8 Heart) fell to Clarke (23-6, 11-4 Heart) in four sets (22-25, 25-27, 26-24, 17-25).
The home team was edged in the hit column by a margin of .117-.181.
Danielle Pendzinski (Jr., Winnebago, Ill., Elementary Education) was the only Statesmen to reach double-digit kills finishing with 12. The junior also finished with a team high .360 hit percentage. Alicia Jaquez (So., Farmington, N.M., Biology) also had a strong outing producing seven kills.
The navy and gold had two-setters finish with double figure assist totals. Elena Lucero (Fr., Yuba City, Calif., Political Science) led the team with 20 while Haley Smith (Sr., Adrian, Mich., Elementary Education) finished with 17 along with 11 digs. Smith was one of three players with at least 10 digs for WPU.
Ashley Miller (Sr., Kalona, Iowa, Exercise Science) had her fourth game of the season with at least 30 digs, finishing with 30 total. Belle Potter (Sr., Spokane, Wash., Sociology) rounded out the trio ending the match with 10 digs.
William Penn played strong along the net, posting 10 total team blocks in the contest.
Next Up: The Statesmen will remain at home as they will host Benedictine at 7 PM in Penn Gymnasium on Friday.
