The Statesmen women’s golf team is looking to remain at the head of the conference class as it ventures back onto the links for the 2023-2024 season.
William Penn took home its sixth crown in the last seven years in 2023, winning the Heart of America Athletic Conference crown and qualifying for the NAIA National Championship. Three members from that lineup return, all of whom were all-Heart honorees.
Gabriana Franco (So., Tracy, Calif., Exercise Science) is the top returner, having posted a 79.0 average with six top-10 finishes (two wins).
Olivia Lange (Jr., Buckeburg, Germany, Business Management) will battle with Franco for the #1 spot; she averaged 79.3 strokes per round and had seven top-10 efforts (two victories).
Carlee Frayne (Sr., Garner, Iowa, Sport Management) also strengthens the crew after tallying five top-10 performance last campaign (84.0 stroke average).
Fellow returners Grace Butler (Jr., Arnolds Park, Iowa, Biology), Olivia Cramer (Jr., Lawton, Mich., Civil Engineering and Applied Mathematics), Emma Lawson (Jr., Rossville, Ind., Exercise Science), and Bliss Martin (So., Hamilton, Ill., Biology) figure to fight for the remaining varsity slots.
Riley Burns (Jr., Edwardsville, Ill.) leads the class of newcomers.
Schedule/Conference
William Penn will open its campaign Monday and Tuesday at home at Edmundson Golf Course as it hosts the Statesmen Invitational. It is the first of WPU’s five events this fall with the concluding tournament being the Heart Preview on October 23-24.
