Stek Places Fifth in Singles at Conference Tennis Tournament

The Oskaloosa boys tennis team competed in the Little Hawkeye Conference tournament this week, enjoying great weather and competitive matchups across all flights. Senior Ethan Stek highlighted the day for the Indians with a fifth-place finish in the No. 1 singles flight.

Stek dropped his opening match to the No. 2 seed from Newton but bounced back with two straight victories. He defeated an opponent from Dallas Center-Grimes in the consolation bracket and followed it with a win over Indianola to secure fifth place. Stek closed out the day with a 2-1 record, showing consistency and strength in his serving game.

In doubles play, Cooper Rupprecht and Holden Braundmeier competed in the No. 1 flight and battled through tough matches but were unable to advance in the bracket. In the No. 2 flight, Ivan Montgomery and Trace Rupprecht also came up short, falling in both of their matches.

Reuben Chilcote represented Oskaloosa in No. 2 singles. While he didn’t earn a win, he pushed his opponents in multiple close games and long rallies, demonstrating steady improvement throughout the tournament.
