Statesmen Place 24th at Hoosier Classic

Indianapolis, Ind.–The William Penn men’s bowling team took part in the Hoosier Classic this weekend, finishing in 24th among 78 competing teams.

Aleksander Kostric (Sr., Koper, Slovenia, Sports Management) finished as the top individual finisher for the Statesmen, coming in 31st out of 578 bowlers. Aleksander finished with a total pin count of 1,248 in his six games, including a high game of 279.

Unfortunately, WPU did not have another individual place in the top 100. Jayson Miner (Sr., Silvis, Ill., Business Management) was the next highest finisher in 122nd place, averaging 191.3 pins per game. Jake Cook (Sr., Keokuk, Iowa, Physical Education) followed close behind in 131st, averaging 189.5 pins across his six games.

Rok Kostric (Sr., Koper, Slovenia, Sports Management) only bowled four games, but averaged 195.3 pins per game. Brandon Freese (Sr., Marshalltown, Iowa, Software Engineering) also only competed in four games, and averaged 176 pins for his four games.

William Penn entered the Baker rounds in 32nd place. They had a strong round of Baker play and advanced a few places in the standings, finishing in the top 25 for the tournament.

What’s Next: The Statesmen are right back in action next weekend for the Heart of America Athletic Conference championship, which will be held in Des Moines.
