Statesmen of the Week: Malik Edwards and Grecia Martinez

Oskaloosa–Men’s basketball player Malik Edwards (Fr., Drexel Hill, Pa., Business Management) and women’s wrestler Grecia Martinez (Fr., Horizon City, Texas, Industrial Technology) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of November 14-20, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.

Edwards recorded a pair of 20-point performances last week. The sophomore scored 20 points against Bethel (Ind.) last Tuesday, including going 8-for-11 from the free-throw line. He also managed three assists, one rebound, and one steal in the win. Four days later, he scored a team-best 24 points versus Columbia along with nine rebounds, two steals and one assist. His final two points came on a tip-in to put the Statesmen ahead for good in double overtime.

Martinez won a pair of matches at the Missouri Valley Invitational last Saturday, defeating both of her opponents by fall.
