Statesmen of the Week: Jayson Miner and Alexis Lake

Oskaloosa–Jayson Miner (Sr., Silvis, Ill., Business Management) once again produced a big outing and for his efforts he was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Bowler of the Week Monday.

Miner claimed his first career honor by leading the Statesmen at the Warhawk Open last Saturday.

The senior finished eighth out of 276 players with a 218.5 average (1,311 pins). He was a bit slow at the beginning with a 179, but was electric after that, including a 229 in the second round. That started a string of five-consecutive games over 200 with a high of 237 in the third round. Miner’s 218.5 tournament average is the highest for WPU this year.

For the year, Miner owns a 215.3 average in 12 games with a high game of 249.

The award is the second for the program this year.
