Statesmen Fall into Receiving Votes Area

Oskaloosa–The William Penn men’s soccer team was unable to advance in the league tournament and was punished for the loss as the NAIA released its 10th and final regular-season top-25 poll Wednesday.

WPU (12-7, 8-4 Heart), which was #23 in the last rating, is now tied with Tennessee Wesleyan for 33rd with 22 points. The Statesmen, who fell to Grand View in last Friday’s Heart of America Athletic Conference Quarterfinals, will now wait to see if their impressive resume, which includes numerous wins over ranked foes, is strong enough to earn an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship.

William Penn is one of five representatives from the Heart in the poll. Central Methodist continues to headline the group at #1, while Missouri Valley is #7, MidAmerica Nazarene is #18, and Grand View is #24.

CMU is first nationally with 498 points and all 18 first-place votes. Oklahoma Wesleyan, Mid-America Christian (Okla.), Mobile (Ala.), and St. Thomas (Fla.) round out the top five.
