Statesmen Down to #29
Oskaloosa–The William Penn women’s golf team will use a dip in its ranking for extra motivation during midseason workouts as the NAIA released its second top-25 poll last Friday.
The Statesmen lost three spots since the last rating and are now unofficially 29th with 37 points. WPU closed out the fall campaign with two tournament wins, a match play tournament title, a runner-up finish, and a bronze placing.
The navy and gold are joined by Central Methodist (33rd) as representatives from the Heart of America Athletic Conference in the poll.
Oklahoma City, with 12 first-place votes and 463 points, remains first in the NAIA. Keiser (Fla.) is second with four first-place votes, while Dalton State (Ga.) is third with the final first-place nod. British Columbia and SCAD Savannah (Ga.) conclude the top five.
William Penn returns to action next March and April for its spring season.
