Indianapolis, Ind.–The William Penn men’s bowling team concluded its regular season with a top-half showing at the Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic Saturday and Sunday.

The Statesmen placed 30th out of 78 teams with 8,384 pins in nine regular games. Calumet-St. Joseph (Ind.) led qualifying with 9,446 pins, but #2 seed Lindenwood (Mo.) claimed the bracket crown by beating #4 Webber International (Fla.) 4-2 in the finals.

Andrew Anderson of Webber International topped qualifying action with a 228.8 average.

WPU, which is 18th in the latest collegebowling.com rankings, will now wait to see where it is placed for the xBowling Intercollegiate Team Sectionals on March 12-13.

Stian Hoff (Jr., Orkanger, Norway, General Accounting) headlined WPU with a 191.4 average, while Michael Applegate (Sr., Council Bluffs, Iowa, Secondary Education) posted a 189.2 clip and Jacques Kaune (Sr., Anchorage, Alaska, Business Management) had a 182.3 mark; all three started all nine games.

Lucas Perdieu (Jr., DeWitt, Iowa, Public Accounting) started six rounds with a 191.2 average, while Ryan Howard (Jr., King, N.C., Information Technology) averaged 184.2 pins in five starts. Quincy Bruce (So., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, General Accounting) (192.0, three games), Travis Scott (Sr., West Saint Paul, Minn., Physical Education) (198.5, two games), and Nick Walker (Fr., Zeeland, Mich., Business Management) (138.0, two games) also competed at the Classic.
