Statesmen 10th in Current Poll

Oskaloosa–Its two wins last week were unfortunately not impressive enough to some national raters as the William Penn men’s basketball team fell out of a tie for ninth in the NAIA’s eighth Division I rating which was released Tuesday.

The Statesmen (21-5, 14-4 Heart) is now #10 with 161 points, while Biola (Calif.) took sole possession of #9 with 162 points. Fellow Heart foe MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) collected another rung to #16, while Peru State (Neb.) remained 18th. Avila (Mo.) continues to sit in the receiving votes section, unofficially 30th in the NAIA.

LSU Alexandria is #1 again with 219 points and eight first-place votes. Georgetown (Ky.), Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) (last first-place vote), Pikeville (Ky.), and Talladega (Ala.) round out the top five.

William Penn travels to Lamoni Wednesday to face Graceland in Heart of America Athletic Conference action at 7:30 p.m.
