Six Statesmen Ranked in Heart in Final Regular Season Poll

Oskaloosa–The William Penn men’s wrestling team will have six grapplers ranked in the conference when it competes at the league championships next weekend as the NAIA released the sixth and final regular season polls Wednesday.

WPU is 46th nationally with eight points. Makail Stanley (Fr., Oreana, Ill., Biology) is the squad’s top individual on the national scene in 17th at 174 pounds. 165-pounder Matheson Meade (Fr., Knoxville, Tenn., Exercise Science) is 19th, while 149-pounder Cameron Hargrove (Fr., Bolingbrook, Ill., Undecided) is 20th.

Grand View is first in the NAIA with 213 points, while Life (Ga.) is second with 178 points. Indiana Tech (110), Reinhardt (Ga.) (104), and Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (94) conclude the top five.

The aforementioned trio of Statesmen also headline William Penn in the Heart of America Athletic Conference rating. WPU is fourth as a team with 86 points; Grand View holds the top position with 230 points.

Hargrove remains first in his weight class, while Meade is in the runner-up spot. The duo of Stanley and 157-pounder Steven Skewes (Fr., Duchesne, Utah, Exercise Science) sit fourth, while 197-pounder Branson Bottorff (So., Mackinaw, Ill., Mechanical Engineering) is fifth.

Mason Walters (Fr., Independence, Mo., Exercise Science) gives the navy and gold a second rated wrestler at 174 pounds as he is sixth.
