Seddon, Warne Named Booster Club Players of the Year
Oskaloosa–The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced the recipients of the fifth annual John Eberline Player of the Year Awards.
Senior track and field athlete Derek Seddon (Knoxville, Iowa, Physical Education) won the Male award, while sophomore women’s golfer Elise Warne (Melbourne, Australia, Exercise Science) collected the Female honor.
Seddon, a two-time Booster Club Player of the Month winner in 2016-2017, was a two-time NAIA All-American as he won the national title in the discus (first crown for the program since 1994) and was fifth in the indoor weight throw. The senior broke four school records and qualified for nationals in five different events. He won four Heart of America Athletic Conference titles and was a six-time Heart Field Athlete of the Week.
It is the second time in his career that Seddon has been named the John Eberline Player of the Year.
Warne, a one-time POM, was named Heart Player of the Year. The sophomore owned a 78.8 stroke average over 26.5 rounds, including posting 17 rounds in the 70s (low of 72). She claimed three tournament victories and managed five other top-10 efforts. Warne won two Heart Player of the Week laurels.
