Scott Allen Witt Sr, age 57, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at his home peacefully in his sleep on December 3, 2023. Scott was born on April 27, 1966, in Ottumwa, Iowa. The son of Roger Witt Sr and Betty Randall.
He attended Oskaloosa Sr High School.
On March 7, 1987, he was united in marriage to Cindy Pettyjohn in Oskaloosa, Iowa. They divorced 16 years later.
Scott at a young age worked at Witt Auto Salvage, in Eddyville, Iowa. Later to drive a wide variety of trucks from Tow Truck to a Cement Mixer in Des Moines, Iowa. He became an over the road truck driver traveling seeing the country for several years, even owning and operating his own Peterbuilt for a short time. He worked as a diesel Mechanic as well as drove semi for Ben Shinn Trucking in Eddyville, Iowa. Shoulder surgery ended his truck driving career, having driven over 1 million documented miles. He owned and operated a Scrap Metal Recycling business and later started up Witt Towing and Recovery, until his declining health made him unable to continue working.
He loved spending time with family and friends and helping others where he could. Cooking for others. He enjoyed attending car shows and cruising in the classics, especially Mopar. He loved collecting small semis, and cars. He enjoyed Harley Davidson Motorcycles as well.
He is survived by his children, Scott Allen Witt Jr. and Naythan James Witt; 9 grandchildren, his siblings, Nick Witt, Steve Martin, James Witt, Roger Witt Jr., Trish Longoria and Brenda Hall; a stepmother, Vicky Witt; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was loved by his girlfriend Chris Rhinehart.
Scott was preceded in death by; his parents Roger Witt Sr. and Betty Randall; his children Christopher Pettyjohn and Kendra Witt Stephanie; a brother Roger Molenburg, a stepsister, Stacey Schwab and a brother-in-law, Edward Hall.
Visitation will be held on December 6, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel with Scott’s family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. to greet relatives and guests.
As was his wish, Scott’s body will be cremated following the visitation. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
