Sarah Prather, 89, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehab. Center in Oskaloosa. Sarah was born September 23, 1926, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Robert and Mary Ridpath Fisher.

On June 15, 1947, sarah was united in marriage to John Franklin Moore at Oskaloosa. To this union four sons were born: David, Donald, Daniel, and Darryl. Sarah and John later divorced.

On August 19, 1967, she was united in marriage to Ralph A. Prather at Albia. Ralph died August 18, 1991.

Sarah worked at McCurdy Seed in Fremont for five years. She later worked at the old Continental Over-All Factory for 17 years. Lastly she worked at Wigg’s Laundromat for five years, retiring in 1988.

Sarah was a member of the Cedar United Methodist Church in Cedar. Sarah had a kind spirit, she was always looking to help those around her and make their day better. She enjoyed traveling all over the state of Iowa to visit family and friends in care facilities.

Her family includes her two sons: David Moore of Halstead, Kansas and Daniel (& Joyce) Moore of Jacksonville, Florida; seven grandchildren: Jennifer, Dustin, Jacob, Laura, Robby, Connie, and Susan; a sister, Mary Morris of Colorado; a brother-in-law, Thorville Prather; 2 sisters-in-law, Arlene Prather and Bonnie Prather; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Ralph, Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Darryl and Donald Moore; and five brothers: George, Charles, Robert, Raymond, and William Fisher.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Robert Voles officiating.
Burial will be in the Wymore Cemetery east of Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation with the family will be held Wednesday morning from 9 until service time at 11 in the Bates Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Cedar United Methodist Church.
