Ruth Ramsey, 89 of Tucson, Arizona passed away Friday morning, April 16, 2021 at the Montezuma Specialty Care in Montezuma.
Ruth Jean Ramsey, the daughter of Ralph and Anna (VerCande) Kruse, was born on November 11, 1931 in Marengo, Iowa.
Ruth graduated from Guernsey High School in 1949. She then attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Cedar Rapids receiving her degree in nursing.
In April of 1955, Ruth was married to Marvin Ferneau Sr. To this union two sons were born, Marvin and Joe. Following their divorce, Ruth was then married to Francis Williams in November of 1963. Together they had one daughter, Nan.
Ruth worked as a nurse in New Jersey and South Carolina before returning to Iowa working at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa for 17 years. She moved to Tucson, Arizona and worked at the Veteran’s Hospital for 25 years, then was an IV specialist throughout southern Arizona and finally working at the Casa de los Niños Children’s Home. Ruth loved her job and loved being a nurse. She worked over 60 years as a nurse retiring at the age of 80.
Ruth enjoyed sewing and riding her motorcycle. She also stayed very active bowling. She belongs to various bowling leagues and drove every year to Reno, Nevada to attend the National Bowling Tournament. Ruth was also honored to be in the Bowling Association Hall of Fame in Las Vegas.
Ruth’s legacy will be honored by her children: Marvin (& Melody) Ferneau of Montezuma, Joe Ferneau of Oklahoma City, OK and Nan Williams (& Andrew Aslesen) of Tucson, AZ; seven grandchildren: Melissa Ferneau (& Kit Ricardo), Christine Warfield (& Norris Hildreth), Niesha Pedelty (& Tom Heithoff), Kelly Ferneau, Sara Ferneau (& Christopher Lang), Brandon Ferneau and Alexis Ferneau; 10 great grandchildren; her sister, Marie Schultz of Victor; her brother, Larry Kruse of Tucson, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Francis Williams.
Memorial services will begin at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Evangelical Church in Montezuma with a reception to follow.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be held in the Calvary Cemetery in Victor following the reception.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Casa de las Nino Children’s Home.
