Rosella Whipple
Rosella Whipple, 94, of Oskaloosa died Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born February 22, 1917, at Waseca, Minnesota, the daughter of Delbert and Arlene Voigtchild Schultz. In September of 1932, she was united in marriage to Leonard Whipple at Oskaloosa, he died May 29, 1987. Early on Rose worked in the office at the old Monarch Laundry in Oskaloosa. Later she went to work for Rolscreen now Pella Corporation, retiring from there in the early 1980’s. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing BINGO and working crossword puzzles. She was very talented at making crafts especially knitting. She delighted in spending time with her family. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Her family includes her two children, Patsy Ann (& Laverne) Braden of Oskaloosa and Larry Whipple of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren: Scott Allen Whipple, Gregory Braden and Jeffery Braden; ten great grandchildren; twelve great great grandchildren; and her brother: Richard Cummings of Marion.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter: JoDea Braden; a daughter in law: Connie Whipple; and two sisters: Betty Mitchell and Elaine Koopman.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Michael Dotson officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Thursday morning after 11:00 in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 6-8 Thursday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W.
