Roberta Dooley
Roberta Dooley, 66, of Oskaloosa died Friday, February 3, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born July 18, 1945, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Alfred and Jeanette Jones Akers. Early in life she took nurse’s aide training and bookkeeping courses. On May 29, 1976, she was united in marriage to Eddy Dooley at Davenport. She worked as a nurse’s aide for many years. She also did some factory work for a time. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She delighted in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her family includes her husband Eddy Dooley of Oskaloosa; two sons: Scott (& Shirley) Akers and Nathaniel (& Fiancée Cheryl) Dooley all of Oskaloosa; a daughter: Jennifer White of Marshalltown; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters: Cecelia and Linda both of Cedar Rapids; and three brothers: Keith, John, and Mike all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Randy Dooley; two grandsons: Robert and Nickolas Dooley; a daughter in law: Sara Dooley; and a brother: Harold Akers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery East of Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will open Tuesday at 12 noon and the family will be present from that time until service time at 1:30 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Roberta Dooley Memorial Fund.
