Robert Leatherman
Oskaloosa. Robert Leatherman, 41, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born January 29, 1970, at Oskaloosa, the son of John and Virginia Smith Leatherman. Early on he worked for various companies including: Pamco, Clow Valve and lastly Vermeer. On December 10, 2005, Bob was united in marriage to Shari Russell at Oskaloosa. He enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. He delighted in spending time with his children and grandchildren.
His family includes his wife Shari Leatherman of Oskaloosa; a daughter: Lindsay Leatherman of Oskaloosa; a son: Alex Leatherman of Oskaloosa; three step children: Ashley Russell, Brittany Russell and Jason Nielsen all of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren: Lane Wright, Irelynn Wright, Addisen Longus, and Hailee Kilgore; a brother: John Leatherman (& Sue Jean) of Altoona; a sister: Lela (& Fred) DeVries of Oskaloosa; a half sister: Deb Grubb of Oskaloosa; two half brothers: Greg Grubb of Oskaloosa and Terry (& Pam) Grubb of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Coleman Leatherman and Randy Grubb.
Funeral services for Bob Leatherman will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Steve Stroupe officiating. As was Bob’s wish his body will be cremated following the funeral ceremony. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Tuesday after 12 noon at the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Bob Leatherman Memorial Fund.
