Rhonda Lea Welch, 50, of Oskaloosa died Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born April 4, 1968, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Ronald and Patricia Brummel Young.

Rhonda graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1987.

Following high school, she worked at Wal-Mart in Oskaloosa.

On May 17, 1997, Rhonda was united in marriage to Brock Welch at the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa.

Following their marriage, she stayed home to care for her family and home.

Rhonda enjoyed reading and writing poetry. She loved her cats. She was a member of the Gateway Church of the Nazarene where she enjoyed singing in the choir, volunteering in the nursery and Bible study.

Rhonda is survived by her husband: Brock Welch of Oskaloosa; two daughters: Faith Welch of Oskaloosa and Sarah Welch of Oskaloosa; a son, Joshua Welch of Oskaloosa; her father, Ronald Young of Oskaloosa; a sister, Brenda (& John) Pape of Oskaloosa; her mother and father in law, Rick and Janet Welch of Oskaloosa; a brother-in-law, Brad (& Jennifer) Welch of Beacon; a sister-in-law, Melissa (& Scott) Morris of Charlestown, Indiana; her niece, Rebekah Welch; and two nephews: Zachary and Ethan Morris.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her mother; a child in infancy; and her grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018, at 10 A.M. in the Gateway Church of the Nazarene in Oskaloosa with Reverend Bill Hines officiating.
Burial will be in the Barnes City Cemetery in Barnes City.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, May 23, 2018, after 11 A.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be present at the funeral chapel Wednesday from 5 – 7 P.M. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to Rhonda’s family.
