Fayette, Mo.–The William Penn women’s track and field team wrapped up competition at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship over the weekend, earning a program record in the 4×100-meter relay.

The quartet of Lilly Ostert (So., Madrid, Iowa, Exercise Science), De’Avae Adderley (Jr., Nassau, Bahamas, Engineering Technology), Ellysse Johns (Fr., Houston, Texas, Psychology), and Ellasa Horton (So., Waterloo, Iowa, Human Services) clocked a time of 48.38 seconds to finish fourth overall—setting a new program record in the process.

Ostert also earned a seventh-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.49 seconds, while Horton was close behind in ninth at 12.55.

“Resilient. One word to describe our Women’s team. They had a tough indoor and came back with a vengeance and something to prove outdoors,” said Head Coach Victoria Vinokur. “The shining moment was them taking down the 4×1 record. They’ve worked hard all season, and we are so happy they came together and had some great performances.”

Next Up: The Statesmen will take part in several last-chance meets next week, with final details to be announced soon.
