Question of the Week: Who is to blame for the ongoing debt ceiling crisis?
Oskaloosa, Iowa- Last week, we asked you if you believed if America was Racist, Sexist, or none of the above. 52 residents responded with 18 residents (35%) saying Racist, 18 residents (35%) saying None of the Above, and 16 residents (30%) saying Sexist. The Question of the Week poll is unscientific and does not reflect the views of Osky News.
This week we switch to an ongoing issue. For the past few weeks, we have been hearing about talks about raising the debt ceiling. These talks have sparked a nationwide debate on the merit of raising, or not raising, the debt ceiling. Throughout these talks we have seen different political figures walk out on the talks. Vice President Biden walked out on the talks a few weeks ago. Late last week, Speaker John Boehner walked out on the talks and promised to meet with Senate Democrat leaders. The ensuing disagreements have caused some to wonder who is at fault in these talks.
Those who say the Democrats are at fault say that they are asking for too much and not willing to compromise. Those who say the Republicans are at fault say that they are wanting to make too deep of cuts to our budget. Those who say President Obama is at fault say that he is using scare tactics to get his way and that he is asking for too much from Congressional Leaders. Those who say All of the Above are at fault say that Democrats, Republicans, and the President have all failed to come together as elected officials and make a compromise before its too late.
Now it’s your turn to decide. Vote in our online poll. The poll will be open until 9 PM next Sunday when we will close the poll and release the final voting numbers. If you have any questions, please visit us on our Facebook Page or e-mail us at info@oskynews.org
