Question of the Week: Is America Racist, Sexist, or none of the above?

Osky News

Oskaloosa, Iowa- Last week, we asked you if unemployment would affect the way you voted in the 2012 Presidential Election. 118 residents responded with 78 residents (68%) saying Yes, 36 residents (31%) saying No, and 4 residents (3%) saying Unsure. The Question of the Week poll is unscientific and does not reflect the views of Osky News.

This week we focus on an issue that has started to become more prevalent in recent weeks.  Sexism and racism have started to become issues within our society. In the 2008 Election, racism became a hot bed issue with an African American running on the top of a ticket. The issue of sexism also came up with a woman running for the nation’s top spot and with a woman running for the lower spot on a ticket.

Those who say America is racist cite the 2008 election. They say that Barack Obama received unfair treatment in certain cases because of his skin color. Those who say American is Sexist cite Presidential Candidate Michele Bachmann. They say that Bachmann has become the target of hate filled comments about her candidacy just because she is a woman. Those who say America is none of the above say that the media tends to over play things and that cases of Racism and Sexism are isolated.

Now it’s your turn to decide. Vote in our online poll. The poll will be open until 9 PM next Sunday when we will close the poll and release the final voting numbers. If you have any questions, e-mail us at info@oskynews.org or visit our Facebook Page.
