Question of the Week: Are you worried about the continued rising costs of food and gas?
Last week, we asked you if you believed that the City Council is listening to your concerns. 96 residents responded with 68 residents (71%) saying No, 23 residents (24%) saying Yes, and 5 residents (5%) saying Unsure. The question of the week poll is unscientific and does not reflect the views of Osky News.
This week, we focus to a more national issue. Over the past year we have been seeing large spikes in food and gas prices. Food prices have been substantially rising for the past 18 months. More recently, gas prices started rising rapidly. The price of gas began rising in January/February when the tension in the Middle East and Northern Africa began to grow. Some have been quick to blame the current administration as well as the last administration for the rise in prices.
Those who are concerned cite the current and previous administrations for not acting sooner. They say that had members of those administrations acted sooner, we wouldn’t be stuck with these rising prices. Those who aren’t concerned cite previous times during and after previous recessions. They say that is all part of a cycle and that, with time, the prices will fall back to normal levels.
Now it’s your turn to decide. Vote in our online poll. The poll will be open until 9 pm next Sunday when we will close the poll and release the final voting numbers. If you have any questions or concerns, please visit us on our Facebook Page or e-mail us at info@oskynews.org.
