Question of the Week: Are our roads being maintained well enough?

Last week we asked you if RV-TV went well and you have overwhelmingly voted no. 37 residents (76%) voted no, 8 residents (16%) voted unsure and 4 residents (8%) voted yes. The question of the week poll is unscientific and does not reflect the views of Oskaloosa News.

This week we shift our focus to local government. In last year’s municipal election, nearly every candidate campaigned on improving our local infrastructure. In the nearly year that has gone by since that campaign, some people seem to say that nothing has been done on our roads. In an earlier city council meeting, the council unanimously voted to conduct a study to rate our roads by how well they need to be maintained. Proponents of this move have praised it and called it a good step in moving towards better infrastructure. Those who criticize the program call it a waste of money in a study that does not help maintain our roads.
