PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AT THE OSKALOOSA PUBLIC LIBRARY
January 9, 2013 – Oskaloosa, IA – The Oskaloosa Public Library invites the public to “Meet Liz,” a reception and family storytime with Liz Anderson, the new Youth Librarian. The event will take place Thursday, January 17, at 6:00 p.m. in the Children’s Programming Room on the first floor of the library.
“I’m eager to work with the Oskaloosa community so that I can provide the best possible services to all youth and their families,” said Anderson. In addition to informally meeting and speaking with patrons of all ages, Anderson will briefly introduce herself and share some of her favorite books.
Regular programming for children will resume at the library next week too. Preschool Storytime will continue at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Baby and Toddler Time (formerly Storytime for the Very Young) at 10:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Thursdays.
.
Liz understands that many in the community are used to the programming schedule maintained by previous staff. In addition to changing the name of Storytime for the Very Young to Baby and Toddler Time, Liz will be making some changes to the After School Program, geared toward youth ages 5 to 12.
“I’ve brainstormed a few ideas for new clubs and activities, and a survey will be available at the ‘Meet Liz’ event so parents and children can provide feedback on which activities interest them,” said Anderson. For those who are unable to attend the reception, the survey will also be available at the circulation desk.
Liz is excited to be working with the community of Oskaloosa, and would love to see everyone at storytime in the coming weeks. Her office is located on the first floor of the library. “My door is always open to anyone who has questions or just wants to say hello.”
