Phyllis Jean Allgood, 86, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, January 3, 2013, at her home in Oskaloosa. She was born Wednesday, August 18, 1926, at Winterset, Iowa, the daughter of Isaac Haymond and Lela Ada Clark Clopton. On May 21, 1944, she was united in marriage to Ronald Keith Allgood at Oskaloosa, Ron died June 6, 1990. Phyllis worked various places throughout her life including: The Oskaloosa Produce, the old Continental Overall Factory, Mahaska Motel, and she cooked for local restaurants. In the 1980’s they moved to Texas and she worked as a gate guard at Carswell Air Force Base, this was her favorite job because she had authority over the military officers. She later worked in telemarketing and as a cashier at Quik Trip. Phyllis was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa and was active with the O.K. Bunch. She enjoyed going out to eat, shopping, camping, and being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her family includes her daughter: Cindy (& Rocky Martin) Meyers of Oskaloosa; her son: Rick Allgood of Oskaloosa; 12 grandchildren: Samantha Bossard, Gary Allgood, Bobby Brown, Billy Brown, Jason Long, Haley Wearmouth, Billy Meyers, Amy Martin, Rawnee Martin, Christy Robinson, Wendi Langford, and Jennifer Langford/ Hoffman; many great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Pearl (& Carl) Kiser of Oklahoma and Beverly Neely of Brookfield, Missouri; a brother: Junior (& Toni) Clopton of Florida; and a sister-in-law: Jean Clopton of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son: Gary Allgood; a daughter: Diana Noe; and a brother: Earl Clopton.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2012 at 1 P.M. at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Mike Dotson. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin Tuesday after 9 A.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be present at the funeral chapel from 11 A.M. until service time at 1 P.M. to greet friends and family. Memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice.
