Pauline Ewing
Montezuma. Pauline Ewing, 82, of Montezuma passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010, surrounded by her family at her home in Montezuma. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am Sunday, September 26, 2010 with the family present from 4:00 to 7:00 Sunday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Montezuma Fire Department or the Montezuma First Presbyterian Church.
Pauline Virginia Mikles Ewing was born on July 11, 1928 to Everett and Mary (Eddy) Mikles. She was a devoted daughter, and a sister to her four ornery brothers, Paul (Marie); the twins; Darrell (Nancy) and Doyle (Marge), and Ron (Linda).
She loved growing up with her family on the farm near Exline, Iowa. She received her teaching certificate and taught in several country schools. She was teaching at the country school north of Montezuma when she met her sweetheart, Carl Ewing who farmed nearby. On November 23, 1957, Pauline was united in marriage to Carl Ewing at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were blessed with three children, Mark (Marla) Ewing of Montezuma, Michael (Ginny) Ewing of Montezuma and Sheryl (Rick) Snook of Camp Point, IL. Nine grandchildren, Travis Wayne Schmidt, Kelly Ewing of Cedar Rapids, Bryan (Andrea) Snook of LaClaire, IA, Brandy (Ian) Meyers of Savoy, IL, Dusty Jackson (Mike McKee) of New Sharon, Katy Ewing of Montezuma, Randi (Brad) Sincox of Montezuma, Kerry (Mark) Spooner of Montezuma and April Thompson (Lee Link) of Searsboro. 13 great grandchildren, Travis, Shawn, Desirae, Sydney, Zachary, Taya, Samantha, Jayden, Ryah, Kori, Devin, Kyra and Paige.
She was a warm gentle loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend to all. She loved unconditionally, accepted every one she met with smiles, kind words and open arms, to her kitchen table for conversation, laughter, coffee or ice tea and goodies. She will be joining her brothers, Paul and Darrell, her parents and grandson, Travis Wayne and other dear friends and family for coffee time in heaven.
