Osky loses a heartbreaker 4-3 on a walk off sac fly in extras to conclude the season

A walk-off left Oskaloosa Varsity Indians on the wrong end of a 4-3 defeat to Benton Varsity Bobcats on Saturday. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the eighth when Kale Gallagher hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Oskaloosa Varsity Indians lost despite out-hitting Benton Varsity Bobcats six to four. Ty Edgar led Oskaloosa Varsity Indians with two hits.

Oskaloosa Varsity Indians jumped back into the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Maddux Ashman grounded into a fielder’s choice, and Jake North grounded out, each scoring one run.

Oskaloosa Varsity Indians committed an error, which helped Benton Varsity Bobcats tie the game at three in the bottom of the seventh.

Schulte earned the win for Benton Varsity Bobcats. The hurler allowed one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out none and walking none. Edgar took the loss for Oskaloosa Varsity Indians. The hurler went two and one-third innings, surrendering two runs (one earned) on one hit, striking out three and walking one. Linus Morrison started the game for Oskaloosa Varsity Indians. The hurler surrendered three hits and two runs over five and one-third innings, striking out six and walking four. Drew Fillenworth started the game for Benton Varsity Bobcats. The pitcher allowed five hits and two runs over six innings, striking out three and walking three.

North and Ashman were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Oskaloosa Varsity Indians. Oskaloosa Varsity Indians turned one double play in the game.
