Oskaloosa To Host New Chamber Orchestra Performance
We will be hosting a new event this year. Around 30 7th-9th grade students from Pella, Ottumwa and Oskaloosa have been nominated and selected to participate in a chamber orchestra performance on Tuesday, Feb. 28. Rehearsal will begin at 1:00 and there will be a 7:00 concert to be held at College Avenue Friends Church. We will begin preparing on Tuesday this week after school until about 4:10. We will meet the following two Tuesdays as well so that students will be prepared to work with our guest clinician on the 28th. In addition to this, each student has committed to practice at least one hour each week on their own.
Dr. Jonathan Chenoweth, professor of cello and chamber music, at the University of Northern Iowa will be our guest clinician. This promises to be a great experience for all the students involved as well as an outstanding concert experience for all that come that evening. Let me know asap if there is a conflict preventing your child form participating. We could also use some volunteers to bring some baked goods for students during their breaks, as well as some workers to help clean up after our pizza supper at around 6:15. Let me know if you can help. Below is the list of students accepted from Oskaloosa.
Blake Allsup, Sandra Blom, Colton Berg,Brady DeJong, Caleb Fisher, Nadia Gaitan, Lauren Gorski, Logan Gross, John Hemmes, MaKennah Little, Tori Palmer, Alex Shaffer, Erin Shannon, Kamron VanHulzen.
