Oskaloosa Symphony to present ‘Music of Christmas’ concert Sunday

The Oskaloosa Symphony, under the direction of Maestro Tony Chang, will present its annual ‘Music of Christmas’ concert this Sunday at 4 PM in the George Daily Auditorium. The concert will feature members of the Oskaloosa Symphony, Oskaloosa High School Orchestra, and members of the Oskaloosa Community Chorus.

The concert will also feature the popular ‘celebrity guest conductor’ contest. Five local celebrities will vie for the chance to lead the orchestra for an entire music piece. As a reminder, this year’s guest conductor candidates are Jason Alons, Principal of the Oskaloosa Christian School; Linda Fox, Youth Librarian at The Oskaloosa Public Library; Sue Lynn, Main Street Oskaloosa President; Russ Reiter, Superintendent of the Oskaloosa Community Schools; and Mary Ruffridge, Financial Advisor at First National Bank Midwest.

Attendee’s of the concert will have the opportunity to ‘vote’ for a candidate when they enter the George Daily Auditorium. All votes will be cast through monetary donations. One dollar will equal one vote. The candidate receives the most amount of votes (dollars) will be the 2010 Celebrity Guest Conductor and will lead the symphony in one musical selection.

Tickets are $7 for students and $12 for adults. Entire Families may get in for $24. Tickets can be purchased at the concert or online at George Daily Auditorium website by clicking HERE.
