Oskaloosa Students compete at District Large Group Speech contests

Three groups of Oskaloosa High School students participated in the IHSSA District Large Group Speech contest events this past weekend. 4 Sophomores and 1 Junior performed in the Readers Theater category. Elizabeth Stam, Angela Hyland, Morgan Barret, Sharon Boer, and DeeDee Ussery all were the participants. The group received a Superior (1) rating meaning that they will move on to the state competition.

Senior Lex Sparks and Juniors Micah Leaverton, and Nathan Veldhuizen participated in the Group Improvisation section. This group received a Superior (1) rating and will also perform at the state competition. Senior Charlie Comfort and Sophomore Robert Leonard participated in the Radio Broadcasting category. The duo also received a Superior (1) rating and will perform at the state competition.

The State Competition will be held on February 5th at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School.
