Oskaloosa Softball Knocks Off Albia

Oskaloosa Indians knocked off Albia by a 4-3 score in softball action. After a scoreless 1st inning where both pitchers struck out two of the 3 outs, the Indians got on the scoreboard in the 2nd inning by scoring 2 runs on 3 hits. Presley Blommers opened up the inning with a leadoff double. She advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch and scored on a bunt single by Kaylee Johnson for the first run. Johnson stole 2nd and scored on Aubrey Boender’s rbi single. The Indians tacked on 2 more runs in the 5th on Abby Braundmeier’s sac fly scoring Lydia Van Veldhuizen and then Maleah Walker scored on Blommers rbi single. Albia would score 3 runs on 3 hits and 1 Oskaloosa error in the bottom of the 6th but DeRonde would finish the Lady dees off by striking 2 of the 3 outs in the bottom of the 7th to give the Indians their 5th win out of there last 6 games.
DeRonde would finish the night giving up 3 runs – 2 earned, 6 hits, walked 1 batter and struckout 8 to pick up her 2nd win of the season.
The Indians run their record to 8-5 on the season. They return to Little Hawkeye play Wednesday night with a home tripleheader with the Indianola Indians who are ranked #4 in Class 5A. First pitch will be at 4:00.
