Oskaloosa School Board approves new grade level benchmark report cards

The Oskaloosa School board met in regular session last night. The school board voted 6-0 to approve the new Grade Level Benchmark Report Cards. Curriculum Director Mary Cooksley and several school board memebers all expressed their support for the new grading system. This move came after months of discussion by various teacher and administration committees. The board also approved the implementation of a 1:1 program at the high school. The program will provide all students with their own school laptop. High School Principal Stacey Bandy said that the 1:1 committee will be informing the public of the new program over the next few weeks through various news articles in all news sources. In other news, the board:

  • Received recognition from the Superintendent in honor of School Board recognition week
  • Accepted a bid for the construction of an elevator in the Oskaloosa High School
  • Approved the purchase of Apple Lap tops for the 1:1 program
  • Approved resignations of Stacey Sytsma as Middle School Guidance Counselor and Kim Benson as Middle School Band Director

The board will next meet on Tuesday June 14th at 7:30 pm in the George Daily Boardroom
