Oskaloosa High School Girls Soccer Wins Over Chariton

Oskaloosa High School Girls Soccer team won their first game of the 2011 season tonight. The wet and sloppy playing conditions tonight at Chariton High School made the game very difficult. The Lady Indians came out fast from the kickoff. Oskaloosa had 4 excellent scoring chances in the first 5 minutes of play. However, luck was not on their side. Nothing would fall in the back of the net. However, in the 23 minute of play Paige Walter (Junior) hit a rocket of a shot from 20 yards out to score the first goal of the 2011 season for the Lady Indians. Both teams battle throughout the game trying to score but with field conditions and both goalkeepers doing an outstanding job scoring was just too difficult. Katelyn Hassleman (sophomore) led the Indians with the 7 shots on goal. This was the second game in a row she has led her team in shots on goal. “I am so proud of the girl’s effort tonight. The rain and cold made it very hard to play our style of play. The girls came out with lots of intensity and were determined to get their first win of the season” said Coach Walter.

The Lady Indians now does not play their next game until April 21, against Centerville. The game will be a home game out at the Lacey Recreation Complex in Oskaloosa.
