Oskaloosa Golf Shows Depth Across Varsity and JV at Chariton and Home Invites

The Oskaloosa High School boys golf program had every player in action on Thursday with a full day of competition split between varsity and junior varsity squads. The varsity team traveled to the Charger Invitational in Chariton and delivered a solid team effort, finishing 4th out of 8 competing schools with a balanced team score of 333.

Leading the way for the Indians was Linus Morrison, who carded an 81. Close behind were Maddux Ashman (83), Marshall Seibert (84), Jaden DeRonde (87), Griffin Snitker (85), and Tate Peterson (86), all contributing consistent rounds to the team total. The group notably improved from their front nine to their back nine, a sign of composure and adaptability on the course.

Back home, Oskaloosa’s JV squads competed in a large invitational at the Oskaloosa Golf Course. While the online leaderboard did not officially reflect it due to a scorecard error and disqualification, the Osky JV team won their home invite. The unlisted victory highlights the depth and potential of the younger golfers in the program.

The matches came just one day after several golfers participated in a once-in-a-lifetime experience at Wrigley Field, which may have left a few legs weary, but spirits remained high. Despite the physical toll, the players showed competitiveness and heart across the board.

Both the varsity and JV squads now turn their attention to the final Little Hawkeye Conference meet scheduled for Monday in Newton. Just two days later, the varsity squad will compete in the postseason opener in Knoxville, aiming to advance to district competition.
