Oskaloosa Girls Golf Team Starts Season Strong, Places Second
The Oskaloosa High School girls golf team opened their season with a strong showing on Friday, March 28th, competing against Centerville, Eddyville, and Chariton. The event took place under favorable conditions, setting a positive tone for the year ahead.
Oskaloosa finished in second place with a solid team score of 214, behind Centerville, who led the event with an impressive team score of 191. Eddyville followed in third place with 227, and Chariton rounded out the competition with a team score of 240.
Highlighting the day for Oskaloosa were varsity golfers Karlyn Scott, who shot the team’s lowest score at 51, and Ireland McGraw close behind at 53. Avree Ebelsheiser, Gracie DeRonde, and Kaylee Main each contributed solid rounds of 55, while Leah Cohrt completed the varsity scoring with a 62.
The junior varsity squad also had a commendable performance, with Osky JV 2 shooting an impressive 233. Notable JV individual scores included Hayden McCain, who matched the varsity low with a 51, while Kamryn Maddy and Rylee Klyn both posted scores of 56.
The strong start and depth of talent across both varsity and JV teams provide an optimistic outlook for Oskaloosa’s upcoming competitions. The team will return to action on April 8th at Albia, looking to build on their encouraging start to the season.
