Oskaloosa Crushes Centerville Friday Night
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Indians hit the field at full steam Friday night against the Centerville Big Reds. I asked Coach Schilb about the team and it’s improvement this week. “I felt like we’ve been getting better and better every week. I think we had a good week of practice. We’ve been working on a lot of execution stuff. You know this is a new offense for us all, and week to week different teams are going to do different things to us, and for us to continue to move the ball we’ve got to be able to make adjustments. We went right out from the start and really executed well. Then defensively we’re flying around to the football better and better every week I think”.
What adjustments did you make from last week? “Well, we have more guys going just one side of the ball. We’re trying to overcome injuries. Again tonight we had another offensive lineman go down with an injury; that’s been tough to overcome. But execution of our line and our blocking being more consistent with our backs catching the ball, was a lot cleaner for the most part, until the end.”

Coach Schilb says they are doing the same, as they have been doing every week, in preparation for next weeks game against Pella. “We respect those guys but we certainly don’t fear them. It’s just another game. We got to get better; got to get stronger; got to get faster”.
Coach Schilb went on to say that injuries will be consistent that Oskaloosa is currently overcoming, for this next week against Pella. With 3 offensive line starters out “we’ll have to continue to overcome that” Schilb stated about next week’s game. “I can’t explain our knee injuries, it’s been one a week”.
I asked Schilb about the ground game and it’s apparent improvement over last week. “We just executed up front.”
Schilb best summed it up by saying, “Anytime you can win big and get a lot of guys in the game, it’s positive.”
