Oskaloosa City Band To Perform This Evening

City Band

City Band

The Oskaloosa City Band will perform on the bandstand Thursday night at 8 p.m. This week’s program includes: Cole Porter’s classic Begin the Beguine, along with marches by Karl King and John Philip Sousa. The young and young at heart will enjoy a recent hit from the movie, Frozen, and a medley of theme songs from Looney Tunes cartoons.

The band will play weekly Thursday evening concerts through August 6. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and invite a friend or a neighbor to enjoy a favorite Oskaloosa summer tradition. Each week, refreshments are provided, free of charge, by area businesses including: Hawkeye Real Estate (beverages), TruBank (popcorn), and SnoBiz (snow cones).

Next week’s concert, on July 2, will feature patriotic tunes to celebrate our nation’s independence.

If you missed last week’s concert with special guests, the Lux String Quartet, several short videos are available for viewing on the band’s Facebook page (Oskaloosa City Band Fan Page).
