Oskaloosa Boys Track Wraps Up Little Hawkeye Conference Meet with 22 Personal Bests
The Oskaloosa boys track and field team capped off a strong night of competition Thursday, May 8, at the Little Hawkeye Conference meet hosted by Dallas Center-Grimes. In what is widely considered one of the most competitive conferences in the state, the Indians held their own and recorded 22 personal records along with six season-best performances.
Senior leadership stood out once again, as Reid Luck, Dre Bullock, and Tre Bullock contributed to five of the night’s PRs and led multiple relays throughout the meet. The 4×800 relay team — Luck, Bullock, Sam Nelson, and Blake Herny — earned a sixth-place finish with a time of 9:09.40. That same level of effort carried over into the 4×400 relay, where Luck, Herny, and the Bullock brothers placed sixth in 3:41.05.
The team’s sprint and medley relays also turned in solid efforts. The 4×100 squad of Kien Bryan, Aiden Todey, Jalin Woodard, and Parker Jordan clocked a season-best 46.78 to finish seventh. The 4×200 and sprint medley relays also earned seventh-place finishes, showcasing the program’s depth across events.
Individually, multiple athletes continued to make progress. Dre Bullock posted personal improvements in the 400 hurdles, and Tre Bullock added a PR in the high jump. The 1600-meter run saw more growth from Iwy Buchanan, and sprinters like Bryan, Todey, and Jordan helped drive Oskaloosa’s competitiveness throughout the relay events.
The final team standings reflected the strength of the conference, with Oskaloosa finishing seventh behind a stacked field led by Pella, Indianola, and Newton.
