Oskaloosa Boys Tennis Falls to Pella Christian After Grueling Week of Competition
The Oskaloosa boys tennis team traveled to Pella Christian on Monday and endured a tough 11-0 loss in varsity action. Coming off a demanding weekend at the Ottumwa Invitational, where each player competed in six matches, the team showed determination but couldn’t overcome a fresh and focused Pella Christian squad.
Several matches were closely contested despite the final score. Mason Muir continued his consistent season with a hard-fought match at #3 varsity singles, pushing his opponent to three sets before falling 3-6, 7-5, 10-8. Holden Braundmeier and Ivan Montgomery also came close, losing in tight two-set matches. Montgomery was edged out in a second-set tiebreaker, underscoring the narrow margins across the lineup.
While the loss was one-sided on paper, the Indians showed resilience throughout the evening. The match came just two days after the team’s strong third-place finish in Ottumwa, where fatigue may have played a role in Monday’s results.
