Oskaloosa Boys Tennis Battles Hard but Falls to DCG; JV Earns Narrow Win

Oskaloosa, Iowa — On a near-perfect evening for tennis, the Oskaloosa boys tennis team hosted Dallas Center-Grimes (DCG) in a matchup that saw the varsity squad fall 11–0, despite several closely contested matches. The junior varsity team came away with a 2–1 victory, providing a bright spot in the evening’s results.

Though the varsity final score appeared lopsided, many matches came down to just a few crucial points. Unforced errors in key moments ultimately cost the Indians opportunities to claim individual victories, but the team showed competitiveness and steady improvement throughout the night.

At #1 doubles, Ethan Stek and Mason Muir played one of the strongest matches of the evening, pushing their opponents in two tight sets before falling 6–3, 6–3. Holden Braundmeier, playing #4 singles, delivered his best performance of the season, pushing his opponent in a first-set tiebreak before dropping the match 7–6 (7–5), 6–1. Braundmeier then teamed with Cooper Rupprecht at #2 doubles for another strong effort, losing in two close sets.

Other varsity matches saw players like Rupprecht, Muir, and Ethan Stek face off against some of DCG’s top-line competitors. The experience continues to build confidence and match awareness heading toward postseason play.

On the junior varsity side, Wyatt DeCook and Sully Boender picked up a win to help secure a 2–1 overall team victory. Additional JV players gaining match experience included Ian Fay, Trace Rupprecht, Anthony Wroblewski, and Mason Beane.
