Oskaloosa Bowling Teams Dominate Pella to Start 2025 Strong
The Oskaloosa High School bowling teams opened 2025 with a commanding performance, sweeping Pella in all competitions—varsity boys, varsity girls, and junior varsity boys—on January 6 in Newton.
Varsity Boys Extend Undefeated Streak
The varsity boys team continued its unbeaten run, improving to 8-0 for the season with a total pin count of 2,862, edging out Pella’s 2,673. Trey VanWyk led the charge with a spectacular 459 two-game series, including the highest individual game score of 278. Cole VanderWal followed with a 409 series and a high game of 266. Other standout performances came from Kyle McHawes, who bowled a 378 series, and Marshall Seibert, who tallied a 359 series.
Varsity Girls Showcase Depth
The varsity girls team, now 7-1 on the season, triumphed with a total score of 2,302 to Pella’s 1,891. Ava Ridenour delivered a stellar performance, earning the top two-game series score of 363 and the highest individual game score of 186. Regan Abrahamson added a 313 series, while Faith Carmer and Paige Vandermieden contributed with strong scores of 279 and 286, respectively.
Junior Varsity Boys Perform Well
The junior varsity boys also secured a victory with notable efforts. Keagan Pierson led the team with a 350 two-game series and a high game of 183. Ethan Siggins delivered a 331 series, highlighted by a high game of 194.
The Oskaloosa bowlers have showcased their consistency and depth, setting a high standard for the second half of the season.
