OHS Girls State Track And Field – Day 1
The team got off to a great start in the discus going 1 and 6 in the state!!
Faith DeRonde set a new personal record of 140-1 on her way to becoming the Class 3A Discus Champion. Sophia had troubles keeping throws in bounds but had a throw of 127-10 that earned her a 6th place finish.
In the 200, Maleah Walker placed 2nd in her heat with a time of 26.41 and finished 7th overall moving her into the finals on Saturday.
Maleah then came back in a very fast 400 and finished 13th in Class 3A with a time of 61.36
The team is back in action on Friday morning with both Sophia and Faith in the Shot Put and Distance Medley Relay (Macie Krier, DeRonde, Czerwinski & Sage Adam) starting off at 9:00. The day continues with Maleah in the Long Jump, Jordan Czerwinski in the 400 m Hurdles and then they finish up the day with the 4×400 prelim of Krier, S Adam, Czerwinski & Walker.
The team is in third place with 13 points. Ballard is in first with 19, followed by Charles City in second with 16 points.
